Bristol Rovers was founded in 1883 and has played home matches at Memorial Stadium, Horfield since 1996.

The club’s official nickname is ‘The Pirates’, due to the maritime history of Bristol. Meanwhile, fans of the club refer to it as ‘The Gas’ because of the gasworks that were located next to its former home of Eastville Stadium.

Bristol Rovers secured their promotion to League One in 2015-16. They were relegated to League Two in 2020-21 but returned at the first attempt and have remained in League One since.
